Designers apply to a curated community, build a portfolio profile, and find work in two ways: negotiate one-to-one client projects or submit concepts to design contests. For direct projects, 99designs secures client payment before releasing it after completion. Check the economics carefully: only a contest winner earns its prize, and direct work can carry both a new-client introduction fee and a platform fee based on designer level.
